Russian President Vladimir Putin says Russian companies need to “take advantage” of the current situation following the impact that the war is having on global oil and energy markets.

Putin, who held a meeting at the Kremlin, added that the war had triggered an energy crisis worldwide and warned that oil production that is dependent on transport through the Strait of Hormuz could soon come to ‌a complete halt.

Still, he said that they were ready for European buyers if they wanted to provide Moscow with “long-term work without politics”. He added that Russia will continue to supply energy resources to “reliable partners.”

Russia is the world’s second-largest oil exporter and holds the world’s biggest reserves of natural gas.
