Qatar’s emir, German chancellor emphasise ‘diplomatic solutions’ to end war

Qatar’s Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, spoke to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz via phone call and discussed the ongoing situation in the region.
According to a statement from the office of Qatar’s emir, the two officials reviewed the latest developments in light of the “continued blatant Iranian aggression against Qatar and other countries in the region, and the regional and international efforts being made to contain the escalation and enhance security and stability.”
“Both sides emphasised that the current phase necessitates intensifying international efforts aimed at de-escalation and prioritising diplomatic solutions to halt the escalation and maintain peace and stability,” it read.
The statement added that de-escalation efforts were in line with the UN Charter, which outlines the settlement of disputes via peaceful means and the respect for territorial integrity.
