Israel to kick off oil drilling in Golan Heights

The Israeli government has secretly given the green light for an oil exploration in the Golan Heights as the Energy and Water Minister Uzi Landau has decided to renew drilling permits.

The American-Israeli company Genie Energy was given the go-ahead to kick off  its drilling project in the area.

Oil permits for the Golan Heights were halted 20 years ago during Israel-Syria talks.
