Official statement on the Karantina center… what’s going on?

The following statement was issued by the Disaster Risk Management Unit at the Grand Serail:
Contrary to circulating reports, the Disaster Risk Management Unit at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers confirms that all rumors regarding the site being prepared in Karantina are false.
The Unit clarifies that this site is being prepared as a precautionary measure and is not intended for immediate use, noting that its intended purpose has not yet been determined.
The Unit emphasizes that the site is located outside the Beirut Port area and does not in any way affect operations there. It is also about one kilometer away from residential neighborhoods. Furthermore, when work at the site begins, it will be accompanied by the necessary measures to ensure public safety and maintain good relations with the local community. The area is under the supervision of the Army and relevant security forces.
The Unit reiterates the importance of maintaining a responsible and calm discourse on this matter, avoiding misinformation and exaggeration, in order to preserve the public interest, national unity, and the stability of the country.
