After giving Iran a 48-hour deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered a five-day postponement of any military strikes against Iranian energy facilities.

In a post on his “Truth Social” platform, he added that the United States and Iran had held very positive and productive talks over the past two days.

He wrote: “I am pleased to inform you that the United States and Iran have, over the past two days, held very good and highly productive discussions aimed at reaching a full and comprehensive resolution to hostilities in the Middle East. Based on the substance of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive talks, which will continue throughout this week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone all military strikes against Iranian energy facilities and infrastructure for five days.”

He also linked the suspension of the strikes to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions between the two sides.
