Kuwait announces names of Hezbollah cell, including Lebanese nationals

Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced that it has foiled a terrorist plot and dismantled a network planning assassinations targeting state leaders and officials, as well as harming the country’s vital interests.
Brigadier General Nasser Bousleib, the ministry spokesperson, said during a press briefing that the State Security apparatus, following careful surveillance and monitoring, managed to thwart the plot and arrest a network consisting of five Kuwaiti citizens and one non-Kuwaiti whose nationality had been revoked. Authorities also identified 14 suspects at large outside the country, including five Kuwaiti citizens, five non-Kuwaitis whose nationality had been revoked, two Iranians, and two Lebanese nationals.
He explained that the suspects were linked to the banned terrorist organization Hezbollah, and the network was planning to carry out assassinations targeting state leaders and recruit individuals to carry out these tasks.
The suspects admitted to spying and joining the terrorist organization, as well as their readiness to carry out assigned missions aimed at assassinating state officials and harming the country’s vital interests. They also received advanced military training abroad from the organization’s operatives and leaders, including the use of weapons and explosives, surveillance techniques, and assassination skills. These actions constitute a severe betrayal of the homeland and a clear violation of loyalty and national allegiance.
The spokesperson added that the suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings, while security authorities continue their investigations to pursue anyone linked or cooperating with this cell or any other terrorist organizations.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior considers Kuwait’s national security, sovereignty, and stability untouchable and non-negotiable. The actions of this cell are deemed extremely dangerous criminal acts and a grave betrayal of the homeland, as they directly targeted the security and leaders of Kuwait and attempted to undermine national stability. Security agencies will stand vigilant against anyone attempting to harm the country’s security or collaborate with terrorist organizations, and the strictest legal measures will be applied to all proven perpetrators without exception.
