Lebanese President Joseph Aoun Condemns Israeli Strike Targeting Journalists on Jezzine Road

3/28/2026 2:22:05 PM

President Joseph Aoun condemned Israel’s targeting of journalists Ali Shuaib, Fatima Ftouni, and Mohammad Ftouni earlier today on the Jezzine road, stating:

“Once again, Israeli aggression violates the most basic rules of international law, international humanitarian law, and the laws of war by targeting journalists, civilians who are simply carrying out their professional duty.

This is a blatant crime that breaches all norms and treaties under which journalists are granted international protection during conflicts, in accordance with the Geneva Conventions and their protocols, specifically Article 79 of Additional Protocol I (1977), as well as UN Security Council Resolution 1738, which prohibit targeting journalists and media workers as long as they are not directly participating in hostilities.

As we strongly condemn this attack, we call on all international parties to act to stop what is happening on our land. We also extend our condolences to the families of the victims and to Lebanon’s journalistic and media community.”
