The Israeli army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, published the following on X:
“Terrorists disguised as medics: we struck a Hezbollah cell operating alongside an ambulance in southern Lebanon. Our forces attacked a Hezbollah cell on Saturday evening; they were wearing medic uniforms and operating near an ambulance in southern Lebanon.”
He added: “The targeted militants were systematically transporting weapons using ambulances from northern to southern Lebanon as part of ongoing terrorist activities, with the aim of using them against our forces and the State of Israel. In the past month alone, dozens of rockets and shells have been fired toward Israel and IDF forces from the areas where these militants operated, exploiting ambulances and medical infrastructure for military purposes. Using ambulances and medical personnel to conceal terrorist activities constitutes a serious violation of international law. According to Israeli army instructions and in line with international law, medical personnel enjoy special protection, provided they do not carry out hostile acts outside their humanitarian duties and in accordance with legal conditions. This incident is another example of Hezbollah’s deliberate and systematic misuse of medical infrastructure for military purposes.”
