MP George Okais, a member of the Strong Republic bloc, said that over the past week, a series of attacks targeted surveillance infrastructure along the Zahle–Dahr el-Baidar road.
In a post on X, Okais reported that 16 modern cameras belonging to the Chtaura municipality were shot at, vandalized, and rendered inoperative. He added that six additional cameras in Jalala, used by an official security agency, and six more in Mreijat, used by another security body, were also disabled.
He warned that the entire stretch of the Zahle–Dahr el-Baidar road has effectively become exposed from a security standpoint, noting that the perpetrator, though known, remains officially unidentified, and called on the authorities to act.
