Geagea discusses critical national issues with parliamentary bloc delegations

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea met with a delegation from the National Moderation Bloc and the Independent Parliamentary Gathering, including MPs Ahmad Khair, Bilal Houshaimi, and Mohammad Suleiman, in the presence of MPs Fadi Karam, Ziad Hawat, and George Okais from the Strong Republic Bloc.
During the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, the attendees agreed on supporting the government's sovereign decisions and the importance of the Lebanese security forces and army taking action to maintain order and prevent clashes and tensions.
The National Moderation Bloc and the Independent Parliamentary Gathering also presented their proposed draft general amnesty law, and the Lebanese Forces promised to study it after reviewing its details.
The National Moderation Bloc and the Independent Parliamentary Gathering issued a statement affirming that discussions with the Lebanese Forces leader addressed the "current developments that require a responsible national approach that restores the state's role as a unifying umbrella and the sole authority, and puts an end to any duality in decision-making or in managing public affairs outside state institutions."
The statement also emphasized that "the discussion covered the political and security conditions and ways to protect internal stability, highlighting the need to fortify the Lebanese arena and prevent being drawn into any tensions or provocations, especially in light of the accumulating challenges facing the country."
The statement continued: "Regarding the proposed general amnesty law, we presented our vision based on achieving balanced justice by addressing the situation of detainees and prison overcrowding, without compromising serious crimes or the rights of victims, and in a way that preserves the authority of the state and strengthens confidence in the judiciary."
The statement concluded: "We affirmed that any recovery path requires activating the work of constitutional institutions and launching serious reforms based on transparency and accountability, away from narrow calculations, and in a way that meets the aspirations of the Lebanese people."
