Diplomats said the UN Security Council will vote on a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain concerning the protection of commercial shipping in and around the Strait of Hormuz. However, China, which holds veto power, has said it opposes any authorization to use force, according to Reuters.
Two diplomats stated that the meeting of the 15-member Security Council and the vote will take place on Saturday morning, not Friday as previously planned. Friday is a UN holiday.
