Commenting on the massacres carried out by Israel across Lebanon, particularly those targeting the capital Beirut, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said:
“Faced with the continued rampage of Israel’s killing and destruction machinery in its campaign of extermination against Lebanon, most brutally manifested in the relentless aerial assault on Beirut, the southern suburbs, wide areas of the Bekaa and Mount Lebanon, Sidon, and several villages in southern Lebanon, which has resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of civilians, including dozens of children, women, and the elderly within densely populated neighborhoods and buildings, this constitutes a fully-fledged war crime.”
Berri added: “Today’s crime, coinciding with the ceasefire agreement announced in the region, which Israel and its political and security authorities failed to respect, is a serious test for the international community and a blatant challenge to all international laws, norms, and conventions that Israel daily violates through its unprecedented targeting of human life. It is also a test for all Lebanese, political, spiritual, and civil leaders, to unite in the face of this bloodshed. May the martyrs rest in peace, may the wounded recover, and may God protect Lebanon.”
