Minister of Education and Higher Education Rima Karami issued the following statement:
"The Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue, and from their very first day, they have spared no educational institutions, including schools, universities, and institutes. This has resulted in the deaths of dozens of students and educators, as well as damage and destruction to dozens of educational buildings across the country.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education, while strongly condemning these attacks, expresses her deep sorrow and regret for the deaths of members of the educational community and students, and extends her heartfelt condolences to their families and to all members of the educational community in Lebanon.
She reiterates that targeting educational institutions constitutes a blatant violation of international laws and conventions, which stipulate the protection of civilians and the neutrality of educational facilities in conflicts.
While warning of the dangers of continuing these attacks, the Minister calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities in putting an end to these violations.
May God protect Lebanon and its people, safeguard the educational community and its students across the country, and grant the families of the martyrs patience and solace."
