Pope Urges Dialogue and Coexistence Ahead of Talks in Pakistan

Pope Leo XIV, in a string of posts on X today, commented on the situation in the Middle East as a delicate ceasefire has halted fighting in advance of talks.
“Absurd and inhuman violence is spreading ferociously through the sacred places of the Christian East,” he said.
“No cause can justify the shedding of innocent blood.
“Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs.”
Military action, he added, will not “create space for freedom or times of peace” and he called for dialogue and coexistence.
