Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar toured the vehicle registration authority in Dekwaneh and said reforms at the facility had made significant progress, stressing that public sector reform "is not impossible" if backed by political will and clear decisions.

During a press conference following the visit, Hajjar said the reform plan launched after an earlier visit with President Joseph Aoun had advanced through immediate and medium-term phases, with preparations now underway for long-term reforms.

He stressed that no citizen seeking a driving test, license or official transaction would benefit from political connections or intermediaries, saying all procedures now follow a unified system.

Hajjar also announced plans for full digitization of the vehicle registration authority and the completion of specifications for modernizing the mechanical inspection centre.

He said allegations of corruption and brokerage at the facility were inaccurate, while confirming that any employee suspected of wrongdoing would be referred to the judiciary.
