Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed that “the full implementation of the Taif Agreement requires the state to extend its authority over all its territory, restrict the decision of war and peace to the state alone, secure Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon, advance reconstruction, and achieve the liberation of the South.”
Speaking at the ceremony marking the launch of work at Rene Moawad Airport in Qlayaat, he said: “Today we are facing a political decision that Akkar will no longer remain outside national priorities, and I say to the people of the South that your suffering is our suffering as well.”
He added that “the launch of rehabilitation works at Qlayaat Airport is a key step in balanced development, and this airport is not a substitute for Rafic Hariri International Airport.”
