Diplomatic sources reported to NTV's website that Lebanon remains committed to separating its negotiation track from the Iranian negotiation process, describing this as an advanced position within the U.S. administration, particularly the State Department. The sources said that “the Lebanese state alone has the right to negotiate, away from any parallel interference.”
They added that Washington is concerned about suggestions circulated by some parties that alternative negotiation tracks have U.S. approval and could lead to understandings or agreements. According to the sources, these claims aim to undermine official Lebanese negotiations and weaken the state’s position.
The sources stressed that the United States deals exclusively with the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions, and that the official Lebanese negotiating delegation in Washington is the only authorized party to manage this file.
They also noted that Washington is exerting pressure on Israel to achieve tangible progress in the negotiations, but said Iranian interference is contributing to obstructing efforts to reach a ceasefire.
