Council announces start of Hijri New Year on Wednesday

The Supreme Islamic Shiite Council announced in a statement that Tuesday, June 16, 2026, is the final day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah for the year 1848 AH, and that Wednesday, June 17, 2026, is the first day of the month of Muharram. 

Accordingly, Friday, June 26 is the tenth day of Muharram for the year 1848 AH.
