French police investigate theft of €1.3 million jewelry bag belonging to US tech entrepreneur

French judicial police have opened a theft investigation after a handbag containing jewelry worth more than €1.3 million disappeared. The bag belonged to a wealthy American entrepreneur in the health technology sector.

According to Le Parisien, the incident occurred on the evening of July 19 while the businessman was traveling from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris's 8th arrondissement.

The public prosecutor's office in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise) has launched an investigation, with judicial police tasked with determining the circumstances surrounding the theft.

The 45-year-old entrepreneur had arrived in Paris from Nice and was planning to spend several days in the French capital, staying at one of the city's most luxurious hotels.

No further details have been released regarding how the bag disappeared or whether any suspects have been identified.
