Priests and worshippers celebrated Palm Sunday at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem on Sunday.
Palm Sunday commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all of the four most widely-known Christian gospels
Palm Sunday is the sixth and the last Sunday of Lent and occurs on the Sunday before Easter.
Palm fronds were carried by the faithful into the Bethlehem church, which lies above the grotto where Christians believe Jesus was born.
The celebration marks the the beginning of Holy Week, which includes the Good Friday re enactment of Christ's crucifixion and death and his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
