How Lebanon and the world celebrated Easter?

Christian confessions per orthodox calendar celebrated Easter in Lebanon and the world. Masses gained the churches and homilies stressed on love and peace.
In Bkirki, the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros al-Rahi celebrated Easter Mass in the presence of President of the Republic Michel Suleiman, a number of political figures and worshipers.
In his sermon, he said that Lebanon needs officials who truly believe, capable of building a better future and finding fair solutions for the crises.        
“Every official has to abandon his personal interests and serve the nation and the people, noting that the political authority has the duty of preserving the rights and dignity of every individual”, he added.              

“We are witnessing a dangerous stage in Lebanon and the East and we have passed by death on the political, economic and social levels. We pray for the Christ to save us from death, destruction and displacement in Lebanon”, Rahi said.

Masses also took place in churches of Marjeyoun where homilies stressed on love and forgiveness and invited for reconciliation before the chaos destructs the country.

In Chouf, masses celebrating Easter took place in the different towns.
In Baabda, worshipers hurled to churches to assist to the masses.

In Vatican, Pope Francis leads his first Easter Sunday celebrations since his election in front of tens of thousands of people in St Peter's Square.

As for Jerusalem, the mass was led by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Fouad Twal in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
In Bethlehem, Christians celebrated Easter in the Church of the Nativity amid heavy security measures.
