Lebanon’s tears on Pierre Sadek

Pierre Sadek said a lot without talking. Unique, he was and brilliant. His drawings turned into white revolutions.
He was known for working independently and he was the first to introduce political caricature on TV.
Wednesday April 24, in the morning and after a long fight with cancer disease, Pierre Sadek died leaving a white paper that will miss him.
Who is Pierre Sadek?
Pierre Sadek is a Lebanese caricaturist. His drawings were published in the famous Lebanese newspapers.
He was graduated from the Lebanese University of Fine Arts and worked all his lifelong as a caricaturist. He used to sell his drawings to the media while still a student.
He first worked for Assayad daily. In 1958, he moved to Annahar. During the Lebanese civil war and due to his residence location, Pierre Sadek left Annahar in 1978 to work in al-Amal daily. End 1980’s, he was enrolled in al-Jumhurya daily for one year.
In 1985, he was the first caricaturist to have daily drawings on the television worldwide on LBCI (Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation) and in 2002 he moved to Future Television.
Decorated with the National Cedar title of Knight during President Sleiman Franjieh’s mandate.

Obtained the poet Said Akl’s prize twice.

Obtained various achievement awards locally and abroad. The latest of which was the “Lyons” prize in 2000.

Held various exhibitions in Lebanon and abroad.

His works: “Caricature Sadek”, “Idhak maa Pierre Sadek ala assyassiyin”, “Kuluna al watan” and “Beshir”

In 2012, he was decorated with the National Cedar title of commando during President Michel Sleiman’s mandate
