Chamoun unveils plate chronicling Syrian withdrawal from Lebanon

The student body at the National Liberal Party held a ceremony in Nahr El Kaleb region commemorating the Syrian pullout from Lebanon.

During the event MP Dory Chamoun described Syrian military as an "occupying army" whose sole purpose was controlling Lebanon and attaching it to Syria.

A memorial plaque was unveiled on the occasion next to other plates commemorating the withdrawal of various occupying foreign forces.

"Lebanon has always been a country of coexistence...we are looking forward to building a new Lebanon, building a modern state while always remembering our martyrs," said Chamoun.

"In order for all occupation forces to leave Lebanon, the Lebanese must unite."
