Turkish branch of charity organization Doctors Worldwide (DW), in cooperation with Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), will open a blood bank and medical laboratory in Lebanon for Syrians who fled the ongoing violence in their country, a statement from DW said.
The facilities would be established within the Dar al-Shifa Hospital, the only medical center in Lebanon that offers healthcare services and medication to Syrians free of charge, the statement said.
The complex, housing a blood bank and a laboratory, is indispensable for diagnosis, examination and treatment of wounded Syrians, DW said, adding that the hospital would prioritize Syrian shelter-seekers but would accept all patients requiring medical attention.
According to latest edition of a weekly UNHCR report, there are more than 453,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
