Aoun to Al Hayat: divergent stances with allies not 'fundamental'

Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun voiced his fear that the Constitutonal Council would be subjected to pressure which would prevent it from endorsing the appeal. He also considered that the council is at a crossroads: either Either it bears responsibility by rescuing democracy, or misses the chance and 'will head towards collapsing'.
Praising President Sleiman's stance regarding the extension and labeling it as "right" and "honorable", Aoun refuted claims stating that March 8 coalition is being divided after the Free Patriotic Movement took different stances from its allies.
"The issues of extending parliament's term and challenging it do not represent fundamental disagreements," the lawmaker told Al Hayat daily.
