Lebanese Kataeb leader Amine Gemayel stressed that two armies cannot co-exist in one country because that would contradict the demands of sovereignty and undermine the official armed forces.
In radio interview on Saturday, Gemayel stressed that Lebanon's salvation can only be achieved through full loyalty to the nation, voicing his support for the state and its institutions as well as for the army.
The Kataeb leader praised both President Sleiman and former PM Saad Hariri's speeches, saying that they complemented each other in terms of the call to adopt neutrality.
"Hariri's speech asserts that the coalition between the Kataeb party and the al-Mustaqbal Movement, along with other parties, is an alliance based on principles and a national cause, not a circumstantial alliance", Gemayel noted, hoping that this alliance would come to include other factions in the country, especially Shiites.
Commenting on Hezbollah chief's speech on Friday, Gemayel slammed Nasrallah's remarks stating that his party stands with the army, saying "the concept of a Resistance alongside the army enforces the idea of duality and chaos, ... and this does not build a nation nor save the state."
