Labweh ambush in details

A companion, who was present in the convoy which was attacked in al-Nabi Sheet wounding Arsal municipal chief Ali al-Hujairi and killing Mohammed Hasan al-Hujairi, tells the detailed story to al-Joumhouria daily.

"We were ten persons, eight figures from Aarsal and the other two from al-Maarra town in Syria. While we were back from the Army Intelligence checkpoint in Ras Baalbek, where the swap of Youssef al-Meqdad for several abductees took place, we arrived to the Amhaz family neighborhood in al-Labweh. Here we fell into an armed ambush formed of at least 20 gunmen, opening fire from three sides,"

The eyewitness stressed that the ambush aimed at killing all of the convoy however only  Mohammed Hasan al-Hujairi was killed while three others were injured.

He also pointed out that the ambush was pre-planned and executed meticulously because those who opened the fire watched the cars and know who is inside.

"The gunmen were not all masked so it easy for the security forces to identify them, especially that the region is controlled by Amhaz family," he added.

The narrator here has put the incident within the frame of the killing of the four young men in Wadi Rafeq in Hermel few months ago. "Aarsal residents did not predict such act against them, mainly after that the Mayor has identified the suspects who killed the young men, however the gunmen chose to send a fierce message to Aarsal officials." he voiced.
