Strike on Syria within 48 hours?

Chemical attack made a turn in the developments on the Syrian plan. While waiting for the clarifications regional and international reax are taking place in the framework of this massacre.

Israel's Channel 10 quoted a source from Israel saying that US president Obama's decision to strike on Syria will be taken soon or maybe within the upcoming hours.

The channel determined that the strike decision will be taken within maximum 48 hours pointing out that the attack will be based on US, British and French coalition with the support of Turkey and Arab countries such as Gulf countries and Jordan.

US efforts are being exerted based on this coalition, which explains US army chief General Martin Dempsey’s visit to Jordan to take part, along with chiefs of staff from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Canada.

Israeli channel pointed out that Obama almost made his decision when he sensed the push of stepping forward after holding talks with France's Hollande and British PM David Cameron. It also mentioned that if Obama decided to go down the military route but restrict the mission to a single aim - to prevent or deter President Assad from using chemical weapons again.

The channel mentioned that the attack will be conducted from outside of the regional waters and the Syrian airspace, through Tomahawk oriented missiles targeting checkpoints of Syrian army or locations of chemical weapons.

Regardless the diplomatic preps; there are logistic preps that should be taken into consideration before the attack, such as waiting for UK missile destroyers to arrive to the Mediterranean in order to let UK participate in the attack.

On the other hand, a senior Syrian official issued a first direct warning that if attacked, his country would retaliate against Israel said.

“We have strategic weapons and we’re capable of responding,” he said. “Normally the strategic weapons are aimed at Israel.”

Moreover, sources warned of Scud missiles that Syria still possesses. The sources estimated that the western attacks against Syria will target missiles launch pads and chemical weapons stocks.

Same sources expressed its confidence about the possibility of destroying 80% of this arsenal, which can be directed towards Israel, stressing that the end is not to be dragged into confrontation or regional escalation.
