Lebanon stands alone, undecided between neighborhood and disassociation as the clock ticks closer to the awaited strike against Syria: will Lebanon open or close its airspace? In both there is no disassociation.
“I will not convene cabinet for an emergency session first because the military strike against Syria did not happen yet, second in order not to be in one way or another as if we’re promoting it”, Caretaker Premier Najib Mikati said. “We call for peace and stability in the region and if any attack hits Syria, we will talk and act”, he added.
Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adnan Mansour confirmed that Lebanese airspace won’t be open to any military intervention against Syria.
While France’s President François Hollande said that recent bombings in Lebanon are a part of Syrian crisis escalation and called Lebanese officials to do something before it is too late.
