Alawite Sheikh Assad Assi in brief:

Alawite Sheikh Assad Assi held in Jabal Mohsen a press conference where he confirmed that Alawite Islamic Council was the first to deny bombing in the Suburbs as well as Tripoli’s twin blasts. Statements were issued on that level to condemn perpetrators especially that the person accused lived in Syria for two years only.

“To accuse the whole sect is not acceptable”, said Sheikh Assi. Moreover, the strife is feared in Tripoli hence Sheikh Assi called President Suleiman to come in person to Tripoli and find a solution to the deadlock.

“I also call Patriarch Rai and Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Kabbani to discuss the emergency status in the city, as well as Army not to wait for cover but to calm situation once and for all”, Sheikh Assi added.
