A Lebanese Restaurant in Riyadh offered an apology to Anwar Malek, an Algerian observer who has withdrawn from the Arab League monitoring team in Syria, after the latter had criticized Hezbollah’s Chief Hassan Nasrallah while dining in the said eatery.

According to a CNN report, a receptionist at the Lebanese “Baalbeck” restaurant in Riyadh reportedly threatened Anwar, along with two other customers, to call the police over their offensive remarks against Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.

“I just had dinner at the Baalbeck restaurant, located in Riyadh’s Ourouba Street, where the owner threatened to call the police after hearing us talking bad about Nasrallah,” Malek tweeted Tuesday.

As the news spread, messages of support for Malek went viral online as Saudis were angered by the story. In fact, a campaign was launched under a Twitter Hashtag calling to boycott the restaurant.

The restaurant’s management apologized for the employee’s behavior and promised to take the necessary measures.
