“An-Nahar” newspaper : Baabda resolution to emphasize political cover for the Army

"An-Nahar " newspaper revealed that the Baabda resolution came to confirm the establishment of a political cover for the army without getting into details as to the completion of the task that was left to the Army Command so as to coordinate with other concerned security forces.

However, the confusion that accompanied the interpretation of the decision gave onlookers a chance to politically exploit it in order to lure the army to the Tripoli “furnace”, especially the six-months tasks were considered as a sufficient to exhaust the army during the presidential elections.

A militarily meeting was held at the Grand Serail , headed by Mikati, an hour after the Baabda meeting included Director General of the Internal Security Forces Acting Brigadier Ibrahim Basbous and director of intelligence in the Army Brigadier General Edmond Fadel and head of the Information Branch , Brigadier Imad Othman, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Supreme Defense Council Maj. Gen. Mohammed Khair to discuss the decision , and the interpretation hence uncovering the ISF’s  lack of interested in the resolution.
