Four members of the Sagesse Club’s administrative board submitted on Saturday their resignations ahead of the pitched battle that the Lebanese Basketball Federation’s (LBF) election is expected to be witnessing.

Elie Mechantaf, Joseph Nehme, Labib Chebly and Samy Berbari have all handed over their resignation letters to the Ministry of Youth and Sports earlier today. However, the four members’ resignations are yet to be brought into effect given that they were submitted after the ministry’s working hours.

Lebanon’s most popular sport has gone through hardships in 2013, with several factors, mainly politics and mismanagement, leading to major stalemate.

MTV correspondent reported that the Lebanese Kataeb party had convened its sports sector which announced its decision to stand at an equal distance from the two opposite parties that are set to confront one another during Saturday’s elections.

The federation’s election aims at appointing an administrative committee as two opposing lists are fighting the league’s battle. The first is headed by former LBF President Pierre Kakhia, and the second by newcomer Walid Nassar, an engineering magnate.
