Assir deems Syria's war as 'existential', calls on Shiites to treat the Iranian project proxies as enemies

Fugitive Salafist Sheikh Ahmad Assir deemed Syria's war as existential, slamming media warfare for portraying the Sunnis as extremists.

In an audio recording posted on YouTube, Assir lashed out at the March 8 forces which are "sharing roles in their fight against the Sunnis as well as all those contradicting them, including the March 14 coalition."

Assir said the March 8 coalition "continues to kill" despite compromises and concessions made by the rival March 14 camp which "has tried repeatedly to reach an understanding with Hezbollah and its allies".

The fugitive Sunni cleric said the March 14 forces have made concessions "until they began to compromise their very lives," while the rival camp has maintained its "arrogance, distrust, and killing."

Assir called on all the Lebanese, including the Shiites, to deal with those involved in the Iranian project as enemies, not partners, accusing Hezbollah and Amal of orchestrating the Abra clashes.

"We will put forth audio and visual evidence showing the party against whom the Abra battle was fought," he concluded.

“I tell my brothers in Tripoli that the Lebanese state, judiciary and army will not stop the criminal Ali Eid and his son," Assir said as he tackled the probe into the Arab Democratic Party’s involvement in the northern city's mosque bombings.

“The army has been protecting their homes,” he said.
