The Guardian: Mass exodus in Fallujah

1/25/2014 6:51:43 AM

British daily, The Guardian, published a report concerning what it called as “the biggest exodus.” Iraqi officials expect tens of thousands to leave both Fallujah and Ramadi in upcoming days since “the height of sectarian war in 2006,” says the newspaper.

According to UNHCR, 65 thousand have already left the cities “as militants linked to al-Qaida continue to defy demands to leave from tribal figures and the Iraqi army. Iraq claims 140,000 have left since renewed fighting began in December.”

140 thousand are said to have left so far since the fighting renewed in December.
