A Letter From Syria to Salam

10 months … finally we can breathe! But just the government was brought into this messed up world, demands showered upon it just like the torrents of congratulatory calls and messages. The Syrian Opposition for one applauded the birth of our beloved government but drew a kind-of-expected card, the Hezbollah withdrawal…
Fair enough! Come to consider the repercussions of the interference in foreign affairs and conflicts that have befallen us, it was wise enough of the coalition to urge our Premier, Tammam Salam to force Hezbollah to withdraw from their territory – and hopefully shield this country from looming attacks – describing Hezbollah as a militia violating international and local laws, shaking the very foundations of the Lebanon-Syria relationship, pointing out that Lebanese authorities are to assume their responsibilities as to said political, legal and moral infringements, knowing that further internal files will only escalate the situation should they remain untouched.
It seems that our newborn cabinet will not have the time to enjoy the warm sun, for the storm of deadlocked files and crossfire of regional conflicts are sure able to turn any smile upside down. Let us then hope that our government will play an instrumental role in ending any foreign intervention as well as setting the road for regional peace. What will Salam’s response be?
