Police Confiscate Spoiled Foodstuffs in Ashrafieh

Police raided on Wednesday a warehouse in the Ashrafieh neighborhood of Sioufi and confiscated large quantities of spoiled food, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.
“The Beirut Third Regional Brigade and the Beirut Investigation Department received a tip about the presence of spoiled foodstuffs at a warehouse in the Ashrafieh neighborhood of Sioufi,” the statement reads.
According to the statement, ISF members had raided the depot along with a unit from the Economy Ministry's Consumer Protection Directorate.
The force consequently confiscated large quantities of expired cheese, meat and chicken, the statement added.
Following examination, it turned out that the seized material, including items with a validity that expired two years ago, was either being stored in unhygienic cooling containers or improperly packaged.
Relevant authorities have now assumed the case, being keen on not allowing such neglecting, harmful acts go unpunished.
