Geagea: Current tampering with Lebanese political scene “great treason”

Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea described Saturday the current tampering with Lebanon’s political scene as a “great treason”, wondering how some could be looking to institutionalize the void instead of exerting efforts to elect a president.

Geagea stressed that the way to overcome void is by heading to the parliament and taking part in the presidential void, noting that two blocs are responsible for the obstruction and not foreign or regional pressures.

The LF Chief stated that Lebanon doesn’t need a governor but a head of state elected in parliament, adding that what is taking place at the moment regarding the presidential vote is the mother of all scandals.

Geagea reiterated his call on all lawmakers to attend the vote session on Monday and vote for whoever they see fit, adding that whoever wins will be congratulated by all of us.

Regarding recent critics targeting MP George Adwan, Geagea defended the latter as being part of a committee that represents all local rivals and the latter is not the only one making decisions, adding that the criticism falls under the usual attempts  to tarnish the Lebanese forces’ image.

“The salary scale bill must be addressed based on the resources currently available and civil servants should not be mocked,” he said, noting that he is waiting on the ministry of finance to release the actual figures concerning funds that could cover the wage hike.
