Lebanese Victims on Algerian Plane

The wreckage of an Air Algerie plane missing since Thursday with 116 people on board has been found in Mali near the Burkina Faso border, an army coordinator in Burkina Faso and the French presidency said.

 

"We have found the Algerian plane. The wreck has been located 50 kilometers north of the Burkina Faso border" in the Malian region of Gossi, said General Gilbert Diendiere of the Burkina Faso army.

 

Official sources told al-Safir newspaper that the plane had 19 passengers on board whilst other sources assured that the number was 20.

 

According to the flight registry, the Lebanese passengers were identified as Fady Rustom, Joseph Gerges al-Hajj, Mohammad Akhdar, Omar Ballan and Fady Sioufi.

Monji Hassan, his wife Najwa, their four children, Randa Basma Thaher, her three children and Bilal Dheini, his wife and their three children were also aboard the plane.

 

The airline said there were also 51 French, 24 Burkinabe, eight Lebanese, six Algerians, six Spanish, five Canadians, four Germans and two Luxembourg nationals on board.
