Electricity 8/24

9/16/2014 11:27:19 AM

As a result of the current blockage, prohibiting EDL employees from reaching headquarters, Electricité du Liban has started counting its employees’ vacation days as of today until the end of the current crisis due to financial dearth that is plaguing the institution, particularly since current funds which are around 73 billions constitute a third of the EDL’s monthly fuel expenditure which are of around 220 billions.

Relevant authorities noted that fuel import will be cut down at the start of the coming month should the situation remain unchanged. Such a step would also lead to unprecedented hours of rationing that could affect Beirut as well as remaining areas that will be not provided with more than eight hours of juice.
