Berri gives insight into Wednesday's parliamentary session

Speaker Nabih Berri noted that quorum has been secured for Wednesday's session, noting that the voting on two draft laws to extend the deadline for an electoral law and extend Parliament’s term has now become a foregone conclusion.

Berri's visitors quoted him as saying that the extension bill ought to appease all parliamentary blocs, adding that he is waiting for the major Christian blocs to outline their final stances within the next 48 hours.

The speaker slammed the prevailing outbiddings over the Parliament's extension issue, voicing resentment over some factions' u-turn as to attending Wednesday's session.

"Some are attempting to make me appear as the only one seeking the extension of the Parliament's term," Berri said. "However, the public opinion has now become totally aware of the truth."

During the November 5 session, the speaker explained that he will be first putting the extension of the deadline for an electoral law up for debate before bringing forth the term extension draft-law.

"The second draft-law will be mulled should the first fail to be endorsed," he pointed out.
