Politicians' Standard-Violating Fortunes

Amid this ongoing reform campaign launched by Health Minister Wael Abou Faour, one cannot but wonder when Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil would do the same, and take samples out of politicians' pockets.

Ever since late President Fouad Shehab's "institutional" experience, and despite being spoiled by some corruption, remains the most innocent project ever witnessed in this country.

No reform campaign has ever made it to the front page as it was shut down as soon as the political vendetta was repaid. No reform campaign has truly addressed the corruption plaguing this country.

We aren't exactly sentencing Abou Faour's campaign to death. Maybe he was the one to harm it by publicly disclosing the names of institutions and combining them all under one label despite differences in the violations they reportedly committed.

Abou Faour should not have into a political face-off with ministers, labeled by PSP Chief Walid Jumblat, whose ministers don't all possess clean sheets, as corrupt.

If Hassan Khalil does indeed decide to take a peek into politicians' bank accounts, would they meet the set standards?
