Head of Islamic “Al-Sakina” group, Ahmad al-Ayyoubi denounced the manufacturing of a new doll that possesses a heart and real blood, deeming its production as a crime against humanity.
Al-Ayyoubi noted on his Facebook page that the Canadian company introduced the “disgusting and weird” product by saying that it was able to say hello and talk to children.
According to its official website, the company behind Genpets called them “Pre-Packaged, Bioengineered pets implemented today”.
“That's right; Genpets are not toys or robots. They are living, breathing genetic animals,” the catalogue read.
The company further explained that the dolls are placed in individual packages, each with an embedded microchip that monitors and controls the state of the Genpet while it is asleep waiting for the customer to take it home.
“Each Genpet package has a special nutrient feeding tube attached to it, supplying our specially formulated mix and keeping them healthy and asleep,” the company said.
The Qatari government issued a Fatwa banning sales of the doll, forbidding anyone from even attempting to bring it inside the country as well.
Al-Ayyoubi concluded that these dolls are banned ethically and religiously because they are a form of cloned beings, adding that no matter how far these companies go in their genetic studies, they will never be able to create a soul.
