A Tour inside Women’s Prisons in Lebanon

The reality in which live the Lebanese female prisoners requires real and tremendous efforts so as to ensure their protection and resolve their problems.

Some of them are pregnant and deliver their babies behind bars, others are breastfeeding and both their needs along with those of their children aren’t met.

The mothers of children under 8 years of age aren’t allowed to communicate with their offspring without bars. They have no time to hold them in their arms or talk to them in private.

Despite several improvements made to the prison, many requests are coming in for Lebanon to respect international treaties and decrees calling for the preservation of human rights including those of prisoners.
