Shooting Occurs Outside the Lebanese University

Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi’s scheduled speech at the Lebanese University’s Information and Documentation Faculty in Fanar led to the cancelation of all classes, prompting Joelle, a young student, to return home ahead of time.

As she walked out of the university gate, a young man riding a black motorcycle fired his gun in the air and shot at the outer wall of a neighboring school, just inches above Joelle’s head.

Azzi’s bodyguards heard the shooting and ran outside along with some of the students who were in attendance at the latter’s conference.

Student Body President Julien Zoughaib told MTV Website that the recurrence of such incidents has become unacceptable, noting that some students and their parents have become fearful over potential injuries that could result from similar shootings outside the university.
