Bassil confirms new election law to be adopted 'sooner or later'

Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil asserted on Friday that a new electoral formula would be adopted "sooner or later". The Minister's words came in a speech he gave during a seminar on the proposed electoral formulas being discussed at the political scene.

 

In his word, Bassil spurned Lebanon's dependence on a single circle with the proportional system.

 

"This leads to numerical democracy. The main dilemma facing us lies not in the technical details of the desired law, but in the political decision and interpretation of the content of equality," Bassil said.
