State Minister for Combating Corruption, Nicolas Tueini, said on Monday that the cabinet would not convene in session if it wasn't reserved for the approval of the electoral law.

"Agreement has been reached on the guidelines of the law while some details remain subject to discussion," he said during an interview.

The lawmaker also affirmed President Michel Aoun's continuous pressure on concerned sides in order to speed up the ratification of the electoral law.

He finally described the new electoral formula as "modern", noting that it preserved "Islamic-Christian parity".

"It is a law that ensures the election of candidates of political parties, as the experience in European countries has proven."
