Charles Ayoub appears before court on defamation charges

Editor-in-chief of the Addiyar newspaper, Charles Ayoub, appeared on Wednesday before Prosecutor Imad Qabalan who heard Ayoub's testimony over the complaint filed by caretaker Minister of Justice Salim Jreissati, caretaker Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, and caretaker Minister of Environment, Tarek Khatib, for defamation, libel and slander.

Judge Qabalan decided to present the case tomorrow to general prosecutor, Judge Samir Hammoud, for appropriate action.

The complaint submitted by ministers Jreissari, Bassil and Khatib comes against the background of an article published by Ayoub in Ad-Diyar newspaper on 29/5/2018, under the title "We will not allow Bassil to control the judiciary and the State."
