Sarraf follows up on national action plan for implementation of 1325

Caretaker National Defense Minister, Yaacoub Sarraf, on Friday welcomed the President of the Steering Committee of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, tasked with devising a national action plan for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, Myrène Maalouf Abi Chaker, accompanied by UN officials.

The meeting focused on the draft of the national action plan to implement Security Council Resolution 1325, particularly the paragraph pertaining to the Defense Ministry and the issue of enhancing women's participation in the political, security, economic and defense sectors, as well as the prevention of conflicts and protection of women from violence.

Minister Sarraf, for his part, expressed full support for the work of the Steering Committee and the Commission, commending the role of women in the departments of his ministry and in the Lebanese society.
