Lebanese Forces Vice President, MP George Adwan, began his speech at the ministerial statement session by announcing that "reform must be put to practice right away. We are making a mistake every time we link reform with something else."
He wished the government would not to link the reforms with Cedar or any other thing.
"There will not be a State if that State fails to respect its full sovereignty," he said. "Most importantly, the State must respect freedoms; something that has been questionable recently."
Adwan stressed that "reducing deficit begins by reducing spending, and the first pertains to electricity. If we do not come up with solutions, we are wasting our time," calling for increased revenues and the activation of inspection.
"There are sectors that sabotage [the State] and are not subject to taxes, including the quarries and generators."
"If we do not achieve our goals, all of us will have failed. As one of our colleagues said, politics is one thing and livelihood is a whole different thing," he concluded, uttering support to the government to reach the set goals.
